IAPS Security Notice & Update

Hi Folks,

I just wanted to take a moment out of your busy lives to let you know that a few things have been updated. First and foremost, our Privacy Policy has been updated. Its still short, simple, and to the point. It just lets you know how we handle your information. Secondly, I wanted to let you all know about the need for increased security around the world. I understand that a majority of you know little about security and much less on how to implement it correctly. I’ve seen many of you have firewalls and anti-virus applications installed but not many of you understood how to correctly implement either one of those.

I have written many recent tutorials on the need for increased online security. These titles include:

Whole Disk Encryption & Why You Need It
Browser Security Enhancements For Fire Fox
Techniques To Increase VPN Tunnel Performance
The Need For Email Encryption – Revisited Again
DSL & Cable Broadband Speed Tweaks
Pidgin – The Encrypted Instant Messenger

These are just some of the more recent articles I’ve written. All of these articles are publicly posted in my continuously updated blog. You will also find service update information, notifications of new services, special deals, 48 hour sales, and security tutorials as well as step-by-step guides. I’ve mentioned and written numerous guides on free ways to implement high-tech security for your personal computer than I encourage you all to read.

I understand that many of you do not have a computer technical background and might encounter difficulty installing and properly implementing these security techniques but would like to take advantage of them for your own personal reasons. With this in mind, the professional security technicians at the IAPS Security Store are more than happy to assist in installation, implementation, and in training you to properly use these techniques and applications to your advantage and to give you back the lost privacy you once had. We charge a flat rate for this service: $50 USD an hour. In most cases, this work is completed in as little as 20-30 minutes. If you are interested in what we have to offer here, please feel free to respond back directly to this email.

As the Director of Network Security for IAPS, I feel its my responsibility to spread the word about increased security when and where ever I can so those that wish to benefit from it have that opportunity. Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day.

With Warmest Regards,

Jared T.
International Alliance Privacy Services
Director of IAPS Network Security

Blocking Flash Objects in FireFox

Flashblock is an extension for the Mozilla, Firefox, and Netscape browsers that takes a pessimistic approach to dealing with Macromedia Flash content on a webpage and blocks ALL Flash content from loading. It then leaves placeholders on the webpage that allow you to click to download and then view the Flash content. This is one way to prevent Amazon and Ebay from automatically placing scripts and Flash Super Cookies on your computer without your knowledge.

Download for Fire Fox is here.

I recommend it and I use it.

Changing The User-Agent Value in FireFox

For all of you out there looking for additional browser security and do not like the fact that your browser gives away your operating system, your browser name and version, and other critical information, I am posting instructions on how to hide all this information with a little bit of simple browser modification.

1. To change the User Agent string, just enter about:config as an address in the address bar of Fire Fox, the location where you normally enter a URL (link).

2. Now press the right mouse button to get the context menu and select “String” from the menu entry.

3. Enter the preference name “general.useragent.override”, without the quotes. Next, enter the new User Agent value you want Mozilla Firefox to use.

This simple method is recommended for all you out there that want to preserve the integrity and private details of your computer.
